I hope everyone had a lovely Thanksgiving! My mom and I wanted something festive to sip on while the family relaxed and watched The Holiday, so we tried this recipe for warm spiced sangria and just modified it a tiny bit.
2 bottles of your favorite red wine
1 cup brandy
1 bag frozen cherries
1 bag frozen peaches
1 sliced orange
1 sliced apple
3 cinnamon sticks
1 cup simple syrup
For the simple syrup, combine 1 cup sugar and 1 cup water in a saucepan. Bring to a boil, reduce to a simmer, and then simmer for about 5 minutes or until sugar has dissolved, stirring occasionally.
Simply pour everything into a crockpot and cook on high for an hour, then reduce crockpot to warm so it stays hot in case you want seconds! We noticed that the longer it sits, the better it tastes. This sangria has a very rich flavor that is perfect for warming you up around the holidays.
Use a ladle to scoop the sangria and pieces of fruit into your individual wine glasses to serve.
Enjoy while you watch your favorite holiday movie!
